Laura Mercier announced an open casting call in the fall. After hundreds applied, we brought in a group of women to our offices to get a first look at our new and improved Tinted Moisturizer Blurred Matte. Then we chose our final muses to be featured in our campaign. Meet Alexis, our incredible superfan! She’s a management consultant who loves how makeup enhances natural beauty and appreciates brands that recognize that.

What is your Tinted Moisturizer shade?
2N Maple.
How long have you been using Tinted Moisturizer?
15 years! Got my training bra and tinted moisturizer at the mall on the same day—I wish I was kidding.
Who introduced you to the product?
My mom! Like most little girls, I used to watch my mom do her makeup in the mornings, and she always kept it really natural. She taught me that a little concealer and mascara goes a long way. The tinted moisturizer really follows this beauty principle for me and is the exact reason my mom probably introduced it to me when I first started wearing makeup.
Why did you want to apply to be a part of our campaign?
I've always loved makeup. As a teenager, I'd spend hours on YouTube watching beauty vloggers do their makeup. (Shout out to Desi Perkins). I even became a certified makeup artist just for the joy of learning about makeup. As the beauty industry has evolved, so has the way beauty has been advertised to us, and I quickly got discouraged. It was always these flawless women with glass-like skin advertising the makeup. No one in the campaigns resembled the women I knew or seemed to deal with the skin concerns I had (eczema and acne-prone girlies I see you). When the opportunity came about to be a part of a real women beauty campaign, I applied right away. Makeup is for everyone, and that starts with feeling seen in the brands advertising to you.
How did it feel to be chosen for this campaign?
It was a real pinch me moment. I still don't think it's fully hit me that I got to be a part of an iconic beauty brand's campaign and be a supermodel for the day.
Do you have a favorite memory from being on set?
So many to choose from, but the two that stand out are THE Tayaba Jafri (Global Beauty Director for Laura Mercier) doing my makeup on set. The second memory is the friendships with the other four incredible women of the campaign that I met that day.
What do you think about the new formula? How is it better?
It instantly provides more coverage and reduced redness and shine, but in a lightweight formula. I didn't look cakey when I applied it, and my skin still looked like skin.
What are some of your other favorite Laura Mercier products?
Until death do us part, my tried and true is Laura Mercier's Translucent Loose Setting Powder. (If I tell you, I need to powder my nose—this is what I'm grabbing!) I also love the Caviar Stick (shade: rose gold shimmer). I use it as an eyeshadow and a highlighter.
